ABOUT DAN
HICKEY

Dan Hickey has proudly called McHenry County home since 1997. He and his wife raised their family here, including two adult children with disabilities who graduated from Huntley High School. Caring for his children has given Dan a deep appreciation for compassion, patience, and the importance of building a community where every family has the opportunity to thrive, especially if they need a helping hand.

For years, Dan has watched the decisions that have shaped McHenry County. Like many residents, he has celebrated what makes our county special while growing increasingly concerned about the direction of some local and state policies. Rather than remain on the sidelines, Dan decided it was time to turn concern into action by running for the McHenry County Board.

Dan brings more than compassion—he brings experience. As a longtime small business owner, business consultant, and property and casualty insurance professional, he has spent his career helping businesses evaluate risk, understand financial statements, solve complex problems, and make sound financial decisions. Those same analytical skills will help ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and county government remains fiscally responsible.

A member of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce since 2014, Dan has also dedicated countless hours to charitable and volunteer work throughout McHenry County, including supporting organizations that serve homeless women and children. His commitment has always been simple: strengthen our community by helping people help themselves.

DANS VISION FOR MCHENRY COUNTY

Dan believes McHenry County can continue to grow without sacrificing the values and quality of life that have made it one of the best places to live in Illinois.

His priorities include protecting taxpayers through responsible budgeting, promoting homeownership, supporting local businesses, backing law enforcement while expanding access to mental health resources, investing wisely in roads and infrastructure, and encouraging thoughtful growth that preserves our open spaces and strong neighborhoods.

Dan isn’t running to become a politician. He’s running to put his experience, compassion, and commitment to work for the people of McHenry County. District 2 needs an alternative and Dan is that alternative.
